Obesity is not only a well-known, significant risk factor for the development and progression of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but is also recognized as a disease entity in its own right and therefore also a comorbidity. Globally, there has been a rapid increase in prevalence over the last few decades, with more than one billion people affected by 2024. The obesity epidemic is a phenomenon that is being addressed by national and international cardiology societies in particular and discussed in corresponding consensus statements and guidelines. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
