The guideline of the <em>European Society for Cardiology<\/em> (ESC), which was updated last year, uses current evidence to show in which cases intensified drug therapy is not sufficient and under which conditions implantation of a pacemaker in combination with atrioventricular (AV) node ablation should be considered.
