Even more unusual is the occurrence in the face, which has so far only been documented in isolated case reports. A recent article by Shai and colleagues describes a facial metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and summarizes the literature on this unusual pattern. The observation emphasizes the pronounced heterogeneity of metastasis and illustrates that even atypical skin lesions in oncologic patients require histological clarification.
