The further development of patient-oriented, function-preserving treatment strategies is an important concern of skin cancer research. For patients with advanced cutaneous basal cell carcinoma (BCC), there is a need for alternative treatment options, as surgical excision alone may not be effective. Hedgehog inhibitors (HHI) are approved in certain cases of advanced BCC. Contrary to the guideline recommendation, this does not apply to the neoadjuvant setting, but case reports document the successful use of HHI in the neoadjuvant setting. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n
