En particular, la hiperglucemia de estr\u00e9s -un aumento agudo de la glucosa en sangre como consecuencia de reacciones de estr\u00e9s quir\u00fargico e inflamatorio- se correlaciona estrechamente con un aumento de las tasas de complicaciones y mortalidad. El cociente de hiperglucemia de estr\u00e9s (SHR) relaciona los niveles agudos de glucosa con el estado gluc\u00e9mico a largo plazo <sub>(HbA1c<\/sub>), proporcionando un m\u00e9todo s\u00f3lido para estimar el riesgo de mortalidad a corto y largo plazo.
