Certaines \u00e9tudes peuvent d\u00e9montrer un effet protecteur, beaucoup d&#8217;autres non. Aujourd&#8217;hui, pour la premi\u00e8re fois, des signes d&#8217;une progression retard\u00e9e de l&#8217;ath\u00e9roscl\u00e9rose ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en \u00e9vidence sous une pr\u00e9paration sp\u00e9cifique.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>En 2018, les r\u00e9sultats d&#8217;une \u00e9tude avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s, d\u00e9montrant pour la premi\u00e8re fois un effet protecteur contre les \u00e9v\u00e9nements cardiovasculaires par la substitution d&#8217;acides gras om\u00e9ga-3 marins. 8179 patients pr\u00e9sentant des taux \u00e9lev\u00e9s de triglyc\u00e9rides (&gt;150 \u00e0 &lt;500 mg\/dl) et des taux assez bas de cholest\u00e9rol LDL (41 \u00e0 100 mg\/dl) ont re\u00e7u une dose \u00e9lev\u00e9e d&#8217;acide eicosapenta\u00e9no\u00efque (EPA) sous forme pure (icosapent-\u00e9thyle). Tous les patients prenaient des statines et beaucoup souffraient d\u00e9j\u00e0 d&#8217;une maladie cardiovasculaire ou de diab\u00e8te associ\u00e9 \u00e0 au moins un autre facteur de risque. Il s&#8217;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 que l&#8217;apport d&#8217;EPA \u00e0 haute dose entra\u00eenait une r\u00e9duction significative de 25% du risque li\u00e9 au crit\u00e8re d&#8217;\u00e9valuation combin\u00e9 primaire (d\u00e9c\u00e8s d&#8217;origine cardiovasculaire, infarctus du myocarde ou accident vasculaire c\u00e9r\u00e9bral non fatal, hospitalisation pour angor instable ou revascularisation coronarienne).<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9tude de suivi examine maintenant comment cet effet protecteur se produit. L&#8217;\u00e9volution de l&#8217;ath\u00e9roscl\u00e9rose coronarienne chez 80 patients est \u00e9tudi\u00e9e sous le produit par rapport au placebo. Un scanner multicoupe est r\u00e9alis\u00e9 au d\u00e9but, \u00e0 neuf et \u00e0 18 mois afin de d\u00e9tecter d&#8217;\u00e9ventuels changements dans la morphologie de la plaque coronaire.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"arreter-latherosclerose\">Arr\u00eater l&#8217;ath\u00e9roscl\u00e9rose<\/h2>\n<p>Une analyse interm\u00e9diaire des premi\u00e8res donn\u00e9es \u00e0 neuf mois montre les premiers signes d&#8217;une progression retard\u00e9e de l&#8217;ath\u00e9roscl\u00e9rose de 21% sous Icosapent-Ethyl. Cette diff\u00e9rence n&#8217;est pas encore significative \u00e0 l&#8217;heure actuelle. En revanche, d&#8217;autres morphologies de la plaque, telles que les l\u00e9sions calcifi\u00e9es, non calcifi\u00e9es ou fibreuses et le volume total de la plaque, pr\u00e9sentaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 des diff\u00e9rences significatives en faveur de l'&#8221;huile de poisson&#8221;.
