Acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease continue to pose a serious health risk in most developing countries. In individual cases, however, it also occurs in industrialized countries. ARF is usually associated with valvulitis. American physicians have described the case of a 22-year-old man with atypical symptoms of ARF with isolated myocarditis and coronary artery occlusion.
