A retrospective cohort study published in 2024 analyzed how frequently ENT specialists prescribed ginkgo biloba extract, systemic corticosteroids or pentoxifylline to patients with newly diagnosed tinnitus. The analysis was based on a data set of electronically recorded medical records of over 100,000 patients from a heterogeneous population in eight regions of Germany.
