Sphingolipid profile in early-stage primary biliary cholangitis

Using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), a Polish research team discovered interesting new insights into the changes in sphingolipid metabolism in patients with early-stage primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). The findings encourage further research into the potential benefits of sphingolipids as biomarkers and targets in cholestatic liver diseases, the authors conclude.
