Sarcoidosis is a chronic granulomatous disease of unknown cause. Its alveolar variant is a rare radiologic manifestation, especially when it manifests acutely as lung failure. Due to its similarity to infectious, neoplastic or inflammatory lung diseases, it is often misdiagnosed.
