On October 5, 2025 – the first World Day of Action against Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) – the WHO, FIGO and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) published the first consolidated, comprehensive guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of PPH. The document with 51 evidence-based recommendations replaces decades of fragmentation and inconsistencies in international standardization and sets new standards: a lowered diagnostic threshold, a structured initial bundle of measures and a clear prevention hierarchy.
