Fast and socially uncomplicated treatment of seizure clusters in infants. Intranasal diazepam shows reliable drug absorption and good tolerability. A phase 1/2a study in 2- to 5-year-old epilepsy patients confirms the safe use of the nasal spray. The active substance was rapidly detectable in plasma, with stable pharmacokinetic parameters. Compared to rectal gel, the method offers practical advantages and facilitates acute therapy by caregivers in everyday life.
