Despite decades of clinical experience, the treatment of sarcoidosis remains a challenge. Although established treatment strategies such as corticosteroids, methotrexate or TNF-alpha blockers are available, the options are limited, particularly in the case of chronic fibrotic courses or organ manifestations that are refractory to therapy. New therapeutic approaches could expand the treatment spectrum in the future.
