According to recent estimates, there are around 17,500 people living with HIV in Switzerland. HIV infection is still not curable, but modern antiretroviral combination drugs can almost completely suppress the replication of the virus in the body. International specialist societies recommend starting ART as soon as possible, regardless of blood values. In view of the fact that poor adherence is the most common reason for an increase in viral load, the simplification of treatment regimens is of great importance.
