In a retrospective cohort study with a follow-up period of up to 10 years, dementia patients who were prescribed a Ginkgo biloba extract showed a significantly lower risk of progression of their dementia compared to the control group. Although there were already indications in earlier studies that treatment with Ginkgo biloba has a positive effect on the course of dementia, this is one of the first large-scale long-term studies on this issue.
