The causes of prostate cancer are still largely unknown. Age and hormones are considered to be the most important risk factors. Specific procedures are available for sonographic and magnetic resonance imaging examination of the prostate tissue. Prostate MRI in particular is an important basis for deciding on the most suitable treatment for the individual patient. Computed tomography is used, among other things, to detect metastases in other organs.
