The term “frailty” describes the state of increased vulnerability to an unfavorable health outcome and includes, among other things, falls, acute confusion (delirium) and restrictions in functional skills relevant to everyday life (disability) in old age. It should be recognized that the list of diagnoses is not always a reliable indicator of a patient’s state of health or frailty, which indicates that a patient-centered approach is crucial.
