The incidence of infectious diseases, which originally occurred mainly in subtropical and tropical regions, is changing due to conditions that favor the proliferation of microorganisms, with a trend towards a geographical expansion of cases. Factors that play an important role in this are climate change and increasing travel or migration movements. While a vaccination against dengue is also officially approved in Switzerland, this is not yet the case for Zika and chikungunya 1.
