Chronic wounds pose a challenge for both those affected and those treating them. The risk of bloodstream infections or sepsis is increased due to various factors. Early diagnosis of wound infections is of high clinical relevance. One aim is to use antiseptic and antibiotic substances in a considered and selective manner. To this end, there are various diagnostic tools that have proven to be very helpful in everyday practice and are constantly being developed further.
