If wound healing stagnates under conventional local treatment, the use of negative pressure wound therapy (N PWT) can be useful. Also known as “vacuum therapy” or “vacuum sealing therapy”, NPWT uses a pump to create a controlled, localized negative pressure in a wound in order to promote the healing process. Portable systems that do not require large canisters are now increasingly available, which increases patient mobility and simplifies treatment. The indications for such disposable NPWT devices are diverse.
