Vascular malformations have a prevalence of 1% and an incidence of 3–5 per 10,000. Anomalies can affect any organ system in children and adults. Mosaic mutations occurring during embryonic development lead to a segmental defect in the development of the vascular system, affecting the veins, arteries, lymphatic vessels, or a combination of all three.
