In addition to the EULAR (European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology)/ACR (American College of Rheumatology) classification criteria, there are other validated tools that facilitate the early detection of SLE, such as SLERPI (SLE Risk Probability Index). A key focus of treatment is achieving remission or low disease activity to minimize long-term organ damage. For patients who show an inadequate response to hydroxychloroquine and glucocorticoids, early use of classic immunosuppressants (csDMARDs) or immunomodulatory biologics (bDMARDs), as this strategy yields the best long-term outcomes.
