Migraine management goes beyond acute symptom control and may also include preventive strategies for patients with a significant disease burden. Although triptans remain the recommended first-line treatment for acute migraine, more than 30% of patients cannot use them or do not achieve sufficient relief. Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonists have therefore emerged as a promising alternative treatment option.
