The treatment of acne is often a lengthy process that requires an individualized combination of different treatment modalities. Dermocosmetics are defined as products that contain both cosmetic and active ingredients and are often used in addition to traditional medically prescribed products. A continuing trend towards the consideration of dermocosmetics is also reflected in the fact that they are increasingly being discussed at specialist congresses and in the dermatological literature.
