Acute treatment for bacterial vaginosis has been established for decades and is reliably effective. The clinical problem begins afterward. A large proportion of women experience a recurrence within a few months, and to date, there is no treatment for the chronically recurrent form that reliably prevents relapse. A randomized study published in 2025 addresses this gap by offering a new answer to an old question: Will a woman recover if her partner is also treated?
