Incidence rates of skin tumors, including malignant melanoma, continue to rise. Modern dermatosurgical procedures can remove many skin tumors gently, effectively and with a good cosmetic result. In addition to mastering basic surgical techniques, experience with other, non-surgical procedures is also relevant. Also important is knowledge of when referral for more complex interventions, such as incision margin-controlled excision (Mohs surgery), is necessary.
