Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease ( MASLD) is one of the most common complications of obesity and diabetes. If fatty liver disease is not addressed through lifestyle changes and, if necessary, additional measures, it can progress to NASH. In its final stages, this can lead to cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death. Studies indicate that GLP-1 agonists have the potential to improve fatty liver, steatohepatitis, and liver fibrosis. Another promising candidate is resmetirom.
