Secondary wounds are exposed to a greater risk of infection due to delayed healing. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT ) systems are also widely used in Switzerland in various surgical specialties. Current secondary analyses underpin the potential of NPWT for the prophylaxis of postoperative wound infections (surgical site infections, SSI).
