Risk of exacerbation correlates with the eosinophil count and other factors

The severity of COPD is determined based on lung function values, exacerbation history and symptom burden. A triple combination with inhaled steroids (ICS) is recommended for patients with a high eosinophil count and frequent exacerbations, among others. In addition, biologics have now also found their way into COPD, although only dupilumab is currently approved in Germany.
