The SGEDS column “Aesthetic Dermatology” now has a permanent place in DERMATOLOGIE PRAXIS, which is very gratifying. To plan and determine the column content, the SGEDS and the editorial staff of DERMATOLOGIE PRAXIS sit together twice a year to work out the topics.
The longer the column exists, the more difficult it naturally becomes to report on news from the corner of aesthetic dermatology. For quality reasons we avoid reports about not or not yet scientifically established (“evidence based”) treatment methods, the number of which is relatively high in aesthetic dermatology, especially in the field of so-called EBD (Energy Based Devices). On the other hand, we also don’t always want to report on the same topics. “We’ve been over this!” is now a common phrase at planning meetings. That is why we have created the “Aesthetic Dermatology Continuing Education Course” in DERMATOLOGIE PRAXIS: At regular intervals, we dedicate ourselves intensively to one topic, similar to a textbook. The series consists of a first part on the basics and a second part on practice. In doing so, we will systematically cover the following topics:
- Botulinum toxin
- Filler (hyaluronic acid)
- Peeling
- Laser.
You can already read the first parts on botulinum toxin (issue 1/2015) and peeling (5 and 6/2015). In this issue, we now turn to the practical side for the first time in a second part. You will be introduced to botulinum toxin application in the indication of wrinkle treatment. At a later stage, we will also cover hyperhidrosis therapy.
More practice-relevant detailed articles on the other topics mentioned above will follow. I wish you an enjoyable and above all instructive continuing education!
