About 50-70% of all women have cystitis at least once a year. Repeated bladder infections occur in approximately 5-10% of cases. Phytotherapeutic preparations based on nasturtium and horseradish can provide relief.
(red) It particularly often affects young, sexually active women. However, favorable factors for the growth of bacteria are also pregnancy, a weak immune system and a lack of estrogen caused by menopause. The symptoms are very unpleasant, because in addition to the pain in the abdomen and a burning pain when urinating, the constant urge to urinate with small amounts of urine comes as an annoying side effect. Bladder emptying is difficult and sometimes accompanied by cramps. Triggers for urinary tract infections are in most cases bacteria. These can rise from the urethra into the urinary bladder. Here they can cause inflammation, which triggers the pain in the patient. Already at the first symptoms of cystitis, it is important to act early. People who are prone to urinary tract infections should therefore have appropriate medicines immediately available in their medicine cabinet.
Effective medicinal plant
Nasturtium (large picture) and horseradish have been used as medicinal plants for many centuries. Their healing effect, especially in bladder infections, but also in inflammation of the sinuses and bronchi (sinusitis, bronchitis) they owe their ingredients – the mustard oils. These act against bacteria and also inhibit inflammation. One advantage of mustard oils is that they take effect exactly where the infections take place: In the urinary and respiratory tracts.
