Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has a high prevalence worldwide and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Several secondary analyses have been published in the past two years. While Magnussen et al. provided confirmation of classic risk factors, Mortensen et al. found that the presence of an autoimmune disease is also an independent cardiovascular risk factor. The study by Stens et al. focused on the lifestyle factor of exercise and determined the minimum level required to achieve protective effects.
