Upper abdominal pain of varying intensity is the main symptom of chronic pancreatitis. If acute or chronic pancreatitis is suspected, transabdominal sonography is an established examination method for assessing morphological features of the pancreas. In addition, inflammatory processes and accompanying complications can also be visualized using computer and magnetic resonance imaging.
