GLP-1 receptor agonists are established treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity. Depression and anxiety disorders are common among people with diabetes and obesity, and both conditions are associated with an increased risk of psychiatric morbidity, illness-related absenteeism, self-harm, and suicide. The potential effects of GLP-1 RAs on mental health remain controversial.
