Occupational groups with a high risk of developing occupational eczema include jobs with increased wet work and/or exposure to allergens. Initially, irritant hand eczema typically occurs, which can be a precursor to allergic eczema. If there is reasonable suspicion of occupational dermatosis, the relevant accident insurance company should be notified. Suva’s occupational medicine department carries out preventive measures and is also responsible for assessing the suitability of employees.
