The term ” gynecomastia ” refers to the enlargement of the mammary gland in men, which may be unilateral or bilateral. True gynecomastia, caused by an increase in glandular tissue, must be distinguished from adipomastia (also known as pseudogynecomastia), which is caused by fat deposits. True gynecomastia is an anomaly, not a disease.
