  • Welcome to the new year!

2014 has begun

In the new year, decisions will be made in Switzerland that will affect our healthcare system. For example, the Federal Council’s counter-proposal to the family doctor initiative and the single health insurance fund will be up for discussion. Two topics of controversy in the medical community. It is to be hoped that heads will nevertheless remain cool and that factual arguments will prevail.

The average age of physicians will continue to rise this year, and medicine will become even slightly more “female.” The majority of young colleagues will not be willing to work more than an 80 percent workload. Outpatient medical care is being reorganized – with or without the participation of us physicians. We have the choice to co-organize or to be organized: organized by politicians, health insurance officials, economists, investors, consultants, etc.
Patients will also be grateful this year that they are allowed to consult us in an emergency or that we visit them regularly at home, in a nursing home or in a hospital. So there will be more than enough work for all of us, and there will also be plenty of political dynamite.

“The zither beckons, the violin sings, juhe in the village is dance…”

This year, for the third time, is an opportunity to escape the turmoil of everyday life. High above Zurich, in “THE DOLDER GRAND” you can experience an unforgettable charity ball on May 10, 2014, together with guests from the healthcare sector, doctors from the Canton of Zurich, but also from the rest of Switzerland, as well as guests from business and politics. Culinary temptations in a pleasant atmosphere, a varied entertainment program and a raffle with exclusive prizes await you.
Treat yourself and your partner to this time out and register before the last ball ticket is sold(www.aerzteball.ch)!

I wish you and your families a happy and prosperous new year and look forward to seeing you again at the 3rd CURCH DOCTORS’ BALL!

Cordially yours

Josef Widler, MD
