Lung carcinoma – Pancoast tumor

Lung carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in German-speaking countries. The average age of onset is between 68-70 years. The main risk factor is smoking. Henry Pancoast (1875-1939), an American radiologist, gave his name to a specially localized peripheral bronchial carcinoma. Nowadays, successful treatment depends, among other things, on the initial lymph node status and the achievement of an R0 resection.
