In light of demographic trends, an increase in the prevalence of atopic dermatitis is also being observed among the elderly population. Tailored treatment plans take into account a wide range of efficacy and safety considerations when selecting an appropriate systemic therapy—particularly with regard to age and any existing comorbidities. Although patients over the age of 65 are underrepresented in randomized clinical trials, there are consensus expert recommendations available that facilitate “shared decision-making.”
