About 40% of smokers develop cardiovascular diseases. The risk is particularly high among people with high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol levels. According to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), 61% of daily smokers in Switzerland would like to quit smoking [1]. However, the physical and psychological dependence caused by nicotine makes quitting a difficult endeavor for most people.
