In a laboratory study published in 2025, proanthocyanidins (PACs) were isolated from the specialized ginkgo extract EGb 761® and evaluated using in vitro and in vivo assays in combination with LC-MS1-metabolite profiling to assess their pharmacological activity, oral bioavailability, and metabolism. The results support the hypothesis that, in addition to flavonol glycosides and terpene lactones, PACs also actively contribute to the therapeutic effects of EGb 761®.
