The PROFA study focuses, among other things, on patient-reported psychosocial effects of Friedreich’s ataxia (FRDA) at different stages of the disease. The study comprises a cohort of FRDA patients in Germany, France and Austria. Results of recently published interim evaluations provide information on the subjectively perceived multidimensional burden of the disease. Comprehensive care that takes physical and psychosocial aspects into account can help to sustainably improve the situation of patients and their environment.
