Fear of the dentist is still widespread and often leads to avoidance of treatment and a resulting deterioration in oral health. Supplementary non-pharmacological measures are increasingly being used to make going to the dentist’s chair easier. Aromatherapy uses essential oils for therapeutic purposes, with lavender oil being known for its calming, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
