Stroke is one of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite significant advances in acute treatment and secondary prevention, primary prevention remains crucial to prevent the first occurrence of stroke and its serious consequences. The “Guideline for the Primary Prevention of Stroke” of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA) was fundamentally revised in 2024, replacing the previous recommendations from 2014.
