Infections of wounds in the foot area are common and correct classification is sometimes a challenge. In Gram-negative foot infections, clinical findings form the backbone of the diagnosis. Local therapy is of central importance, systemic antibiotics are recommended for additional soft tissue infections and in some cases surgical intervention is also necessary.
