The spectrum of possible causes of lymph node swelling is broad and includes numerous acute and chronic diseases, including lymphoproliferative diseases and malignancies. In more than half of the cases, mediastinal masses are benign. There are certain criteria that are indicative of malignant changes – imaging procedures are informative for the differential diagnosis.
