The diagnosis of respiratory viral infections has become a major focus of medical attention in recent years. While SARS-CoV-2 has taken center stage in recent years, other respiratory viruses such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are now increasingly coming to the attention of experts. In everyday clinical practice, the main challenge for medical staff is to select the right diagnostic methods for the respective clinical situation in order to enable a precise and prompt diagnosis and to initiate measures based on this.
