Obesity is the most common chronic disease in Western societies, with serious metabolic, cardiovascular, and psychosocial consequences. The therapeutic landscape has changed fundamentally: new-generation GLP-1 agonists achieve weight loss that, just a few years ago, was reserved solely for bariatric surgery. This presents physicians with a clear task: to understand obesity as a biologically based chronic disease and to treat it accordingly.
