Persistent hiccups are a rare but distressing symptom that can significantly affect the quality of life of patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). In one clinical case, treatment with inhaled nebulized lidocaine was reported in a patient whose hiccups did not respond to standard drug therapy. The method led to rapid and complete relief of symptoms.
