Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of death in patients worldwide and yet often goes undiagnosed. Although genetic risk plays a significant role in susceptibility to COPD, it is unclear whether it is helpful in performing spirometry tests and identifying undiagnosed cases. American researchers investigated whether a polygenic risk score improves the identification of undiagnosed COPD beyond the conventional approach to case finding.
